The Australian Ballet and Telstra are thrilled to announce the launch of the $40 Telstra Ballet Ballot, a bold new initiative, subsidised by Telstra, giving Australians the opportunity to experience world-class ballet for just $40.
Celebrating 40 years of The Australian Ballet and Telstra’s partnership, the Telstra Ballet Ballot will provide 10 tickets in great seats to every remaining Melbourne and Sydney performance in 2024 for $40, ensuring the magic of ballet is more accessible.

Available 2024 seasons include Oscar®, Etudes / Circle Electric in Melbourne, and The Nutcracker in Sydney. Details for the 2025 seasons will be announced at a later date.

The $40 Telstra Ballet Ballot opens four weeks prior to each season’s opening night, with the ballot now open for the Melbourne season of Christopher Wheeldon’s world-premiere of Oscar®, debuting at the Regent Theatre on 13 September.

The Australian Ballet’s Artistic Director David Hallberg said: “We are incredibly excited to launch the $40 Telstra Ballet Ballot, a significant step towards making the enchanting world of ballet accessible to a broader audience. This initiative highlights our joint dedication to inclusivity and our longstanding partnership with Telstra who have made this possible.”

“We believe that ballet should be accessible to everyone, and the $40 Telstra Ballet Ballot is a vital step in breaking down financial barriers, allowing more people to enjoy the beauty and artistry of our performances,” added Hallberg.

Telstra’s Head of Brand and Sponsorship, Alita McMenamin said: “We know Australians are doing it tough and so the more joy we can spread in their lives the better. We wanted to develop an initiative that would give more Australians the opportunity to experience a world-class performance from a great seat for a great price.”

Whether one is a dance aficionado or simply curious about the art form, the Telstra Ballet Ballot provides the perfect opportunity dive into the dynamism, joy and beauty of ballet.

Thanks to the generous support from Telstra, The Australian Ballet’s $40 Telstra Ballet Ballot initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to helping make ballet an accessible art form for more Australians.
